Hello, I’m Joe. But who am I exactly? I’m a 40-year-old German who has been living in beautiful Ireland since 2018. My journey here has been both exciting and transformative. I want to share my story and some of my aspirations with you.
My Move to Ireland
In 2018, I made a bold decision. I packed up my life in Germany, taking only three suitcases, and moved to Ireland. This was not a spur-of-the-moment choice. It was driven by an exceptional job offer from a merchandise company headquartered in Ireland. Moving to a new country was a major step, but it was one filled with promise and opportunity.
Embracing a New Life
Since arriving in Ireland, I have embraced my new environment wholeheartedly. I currently live in a lovely house with a small pond in the garden. The pond adds a serene touch to my home, creating a peaceful retreat. My house also features a garden where I enjoy spending time outdoors. It’s been a pleasure to settle into this new home and create a space that feels uniquely mine.
My Furry Companions
Living in Ireland has also meant sharing my life with two wonderful dogs. Dexter, a pug, was an emergency adoption. Despite the common health issues associated with pugs, he has become a cherished part of my life. Then there’s Fuchur, a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. He’s incredibly friendly and affectionate. However, his name is quite a tongue-twister for many Irish people, which often leads to amusing situations.
Personal Growth and Milestones
Turning 40 was a significant milestone for me. It marked not only the passage of time but also a period of personal growth. At 38, I achieved a major life change by quitting daily cannabis use. This was something I struggled with for 20 years, so overcoming it was a major accomplishment. Additionally, I made the decision to stop drinking alcohol. This shift was surprisingly easier in Ireland than it had been in Germany. Reflecting on this change, I realize how much it has improved my quality of life.
Another important milestone was obtaining my driver’s license a year ago. This achievement has given me greater freedom and opened up new possibilities. It has allowed me to explore more of Ireland and pursue new opportunities.
Future Aspirations and Dreams
Looking ahead, I have several dreams and aspirations. One of my primary goals is to own my own home. While I currently rent, having my own property would be a significant achievement. I envision having some land where I could pursue various personal projects. For instance, I would love to have space for a small farm or garden.
Furthermore, I have a deep desire to help animals in need. I hope to provide a temporary home for dogs awaiting adoption. By offering them a safe and loving environment, I can contribute to their well-being until they find their forever homes. This is a cause close to my heart, and I am excited about the possibility of making a positive impact in this way.
